On March 10th, 2008, I celebrated 8 years as a Creative Memories Consultant! It's hard to believe it's been that long, but when I look at Emily, I know it has been. She was just 8 months old when I joined the company - and now she's nearly 9 YEARS old! Here's what my CM journey has looked like:
NO WAY! “Sorry, not interested!” This is what I told my best friend, a new Creative Memories consultant who offered me the opportunity to coordinate a class. I was newly married, working full time at FedEx Logistics, attending Case Western for my Master’s degree, and conducting the church choir. I didn’t have time or energy for other activities!
OCCASIONAL CUSTOMER: Eight months later, I agreed to coordinate a class “just to help out.” I had graduated from Case and was pregnant with my first child. I enjoyed the class, and decided to do an album of my wedding. I planned to do more albums to document my child’s life.
DEDICATED HOST: A year and a half later – with several albums under my belt – I hosted my 3rd class to get supplies for free. My consultant suggested that if I was going do albums for a while, I deserved 30% off all my products! At my class, 4 people were interested in having classes, too! The coordinator offered to give me those classes if I became a consultant. Since I knew she averaged $90 profit per class, I figured there was no risk in trying since I would make my $200 investment back in just 3 classes. Besides, I had always wanted my own business! I decided to give Creative Memories 18 months to be profitable for me.
NEW CONSULTANT: My business was profitable in only 8 months and I recruited my first team member within 5 months. Best of all, I was keeping current with my own photos and inspiring others to do the same. Right away, I saw the potential for growth and advancement in this business and decided to work towards a leadership position. I found it easy to work this business alongside my “real” job (working part time at FedEx Logistics).
CONSULTANT FOR LIFE: Two years after becoming a consultant, I was laid off from my job of 7 years. Pregnant with my second child and now without a job OR daycare (my sitter didn’t want to watch two kids), I decided to turn my hobby into a real career. I have since met people making 6 digit incomes with Creative Memories – more that I was ever going to make at FedEx! What’s more, I know that I will make that kind of money, too!
CREATIVE MEMORIES LEADER: Within a few years of working CM alongside my “real” job of Mom, I earned a leadership position with the company. I am now among the top 8% of consultants worldwide! I am so proud to be a Creative Memories consultant.
Many people talk about getting their priorities straight, putting family and faith first. With Creative Memories, I can walk that walk. I am able to be Mom first, but still have a job I love. It’s great to truly be able to work my job around my family rather than the other way around. I will never go back to working 8 hour days (or 9 or 10) for a company that really doesn’t care about me, just to put money in someone else’s pocket! I am definitely a Creative Memories consultant for life!
Thanks to YOU for making this career a reality for me.
