When trained for the Counterfeit Squad, police are sometimes put in a room for two weeks and told simply to examine the "Real Thing" - taste, touch, smell, look. When the period is over, they can be handed a counterfeit and will know the difference!
Let me invite you to look closely at the "Real Thing" -- our Creative Memories albums -- so you can detect a counterfeit when you meet one!
QUALITIES OF CM ALBUMS
~ Highest quality bookcloth cover (will not burn to a frazzle when heat
embossed).
~ Soft rounded corners - less wear than square corners
~ Feel the weight of the pages. Sturdy. Will hold most memorabilia comfortably. Will stand up to the test of time.
~ Feel the reinforced edge of the album pages. Notice how sturdy they are. These edges keep pages from getting dog-eared after years of page turning, but something else. They provide a gap of air between pages so that photos do not rub on each other, especially if the album is stored upright. Abrasion will cause cracks or fissures in the emulsion of photos over time.
~ Snow White Pages --- that's because 100% of the lignin is removed from our album pages -- guaranteed. You won't need to worry about them yellowing over time and causing discolouration to your photos. Because the last 3% of lignin is the most costly to remove, many album manufacturers remove only 97% of the lignin yet advertise "lignin free". Compare -- see if the competition's pages are as bright as ours!
~ Acid-free - our pages truly are. Some companies advertise "acid-free" because that is the lingo (made popular by CM) BUT THERE IS NO MANDATORY STANDARDS ASSOCIATION FOR THE SCRAPBOOKING INDUSTRY. Companies can SAY their albums are acid-free and lignin-free when they are not, and not be liable in a court of law. CM however, voluntarily submits ALL its products, including albums, to the rigorous photo safety standards of the ISO. Check out our packaging for the ISO registration code. And see if the competition has the same. Acid-free pages are necessary for preserving your photos safely for generations (without fading and cracking).
~ Buffered. With calcium carbonate. Not many albums have this added quality. Pages can become acidified over time because of the acid in hands and in the environment -- but never CM's because of the anti-acid buffering. The buffering also means that you can store memorabilia alongside photos on your album pages as long as they do not touch. Acid in memorabilia will migrate across a page like ink on a blotter and cause damage to your photos over time, but in CM's albums, the acid is neutralized the minute it tries to bleed onto the page.
~ Open to several different pages in the album at random. How does it lie? FLAT. That makes it easier to journal in your album but something else. Post bound albums (like a book) heave in the middle. This will cause cracks in the surface of your photos over time.
~ Guaranteed for Life! You never know how long an album company may be around. CM has been around for 20 years and the album itself much longer. You can be assured that if anything happens to your album due to manufacturing defects during your lifetime, CM will be here to honour its lifetime guarantee. You will be given a new album ... no questions asked.
When I consider all the time/love/money we put into our albums..... why would we trust our pictures to albums that might not keep them safe for generations to come?
My husband says, "The world's best sports car (in his opinion) -- a BMW -- costs $150 G. The world's top guitar -- a Ziedler -- costs $100 G. Only a few chosen people could ever afford either of these. But EVERYONE can afford the world's best album at $52.95." (That's our 12 x 12 Premiere album which comes with 15 sheets/30 pages, but can expand to hold more).
The testimony that means the most to me personally came from a world-class engineer, Norman D. Lee -- the same gentleman who designed the Disneyworld Monorail and the Burlington Skyway Bridge. He once said to me of CM albums: "There is NOTHING that CM has overlooked in the design of these albums."
