What an experience! I returned a few weeks ago from Dublin, Ireland and a trip I earned from my business with Creative Memories. First, a heartfelt thank you to all of you who hosted events, purchased supplies and introduced me to your friends. I could not have done it without you!
My husband, Terry, and I arrived in Dublin on the morning of Tuesday, October 6. We were met at the airport by CM and escorted to downtown Dublin. After registering and picking up our first gifts of waterproof, monogrammed jackets and tote and 120 Euros (for meals were were on our own for), we settled in our room at the 5 Star Conrad Hilton. Then, we joined a tour guide for a walking tour. What a beautiful city...even in the rain. Fortunately, this was just one of two days with rain.
Creative Memories welcomed us in the evening with a delicious welcome buffet of local favorites. It was fun to visit with the other 440 Consultants and their guests. When we got back to our room, there was a lovely necklace with a silver Celtic design. A fun remembrance of Ireland.
Wednesday was our "activity day". Terry was thrilled to golf at Portmarnock, his first links course - and a top rated course. Although he lost quite a few balls in the tall grasses, he enjoyed it immensely. I visited Malahide Castle and had my first view of the history of Europe....just beautiful. During the afternoon, another Consultant and I had a pub lunch and a walk in a tiny fishing village called Howth. We even saw a seal in the bay!
Dinner on Wednesday was a "dine around". We chose to dine at the Pig's Ear, a fun restaurant that specialized in traditional Irish cuisine. Again, yummy!
Thursday morning found Terry golfing again and me touring Dublin on foot with a few Consultant friends. We had fun taking photos of the "doors of Dublin", Trinity College and the Book of Kells. After the boys returned, we toured the Guinness factory and had dinner at a pub called Gogarty's. We enjoyed live Irish music! Turns out this is the pub who's picture I had pulled from the internet to add to my desktop wallpaper back in November 2008. Funny - guess it was meant to be!
Ballyknocken was our destination for Friday. Ballyknocken is a lovely multi-generation family farm, bed & breakfast and cookery school south of Dublin in County Wicklow. Terry and I had a scone making lesson and learned to shoot clay pigeons. We also enjoyed sheep herding and Irish Coffee demonstrations. Owner Catherine Fulvio (husband is Italian) has a new cooking show just purchased by BBC and bought by the Food Network. It is to be called Catherine's Italian Kitchen. Yes, an Irish woman will teach Italian cooking!
Friday evening was our Celtic Farewell banquet with CM. I was honored to be recognized for recruiting at my career level. It was fun for Terry to see that as it is a first. Creative Memories did not disappoint with additional gifts throughout the week. We received a beautiful Belleek Irish china bowl and a StoryBook coupon and exclusive content. They treated us like royalty!
On Saturday, Terry and I rented a car and, along with Sarah and Jonathan Lee from California, traveled west and south around the country for five days. We visited towns and sights such as: Galway, the Spanish Arch, Allwee Cave, the Burren, Poulnabrone Dolman, Cliffs of Moher, Doolin and O'Connor's Pub, Bunratty Castle, the Blarney Castle and stone, Killarney National Park, Muckross Abbey and The Rock of Cashel.
Ireland is an amazingly beautiful country. I am so thankful to have been able to visit!
