It's not often these days when a family can celebrate a unique moment in time - a 50th Wedding Anniversary. Somehow, our family has a history of long marriages - my grandparents celebrated their 50th, my aunt and uncle, and now my parents, too! I wanted to mark the occasion with a not only a special gift for them, but something that my young children may be able to enjoy as they get old enough to understand who "Oma" and "Opa" are all about. Six months prior to their event, I began writing every family member and friend of my parents I could locate, even my Mom's cousins over in Germany, for a contribution to this gift. It was to be a surprise, but I needed their input. Of course well wishes, cards, letters and many photos all came streaming in with a great turnout. As you can imagine, my parents were overwhelmed with emotion as they read all the pages. I think this was the best gift I could have ever done for them.
If you are interested in a special gift for a family member, ask me about making a tribute album like this one. It will be cherished for a lifetime.
